ABOUT HEART FM

CAPE TOWN'S BEAT SINCE 1997

The Western Cape’s best-loved independent radio station. Heart FM is a trusted name in the Mother City, the authentic voice of our communities, in touch with the values the people of the Cape hold most dear.

Where It All Began

The station originally launched as P4 Radio in July 1997; then one of the fastest growing radio stations in South Africa attracting high-income earners with its pure jazz offering. P4 quickly became the station of choice in homes across Cape Town.

A New Era

In 2006, the station rebranded to Heart 104.9 FM and later dropped the 104.9 to become Heart FM, Cape Town’s Beat. Along with the rebranding came a commercial mix of music catering to a diverse audience. Heart FM became the expression of a culture at the core of the Cape: community-centred, socially aware, and committed to enjoying life to the full.

Expanding Our Reach

In 2013, Heart FM welcomed new listeners by expanding coverage to include the Drakenstein, West Coast, Swartland, Overberg and Overstrand regions of the Western Cape. For the first time, listeners across the province could wake up to a perfect mix of music, personality and dynamic entertainment.

Heart FM Today

Today, Heart FM is a polished, authentic platform, home to the Western Cape’s favourite voices, freshest music and trusted conversations. On air, online, on socials, or on the ground, Heart FM remains proudly independent and proudly of the people.
