Controversial North West businessman Suliman Carrim has been granted bail of R100,000.

He appeared at the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court this morning, following his arrest at OR Tambo International Airport two weeks ago.

He was charged with contravening the Commissions Act by failing to appear before the Madlanga Commission. The Commission wanted him to give testimony on suspicious financial transactions linked to police tenders.

Carrim’s bail has been granted subject to stringent conditions.

But Carrim legal woes are not over yet.

Last week, he was charged and appeared in the Musina Magistrates Court for allegedly trying to smuggle cars into Zimbabwe, and then ultimately to Malawi.

Carrim will have to apply for bail in this matter as well.

This is a developing story…
