Police have made a major breakthrough in the case of deceased runner Elizabeth ‘Tsontso’ Moselakgomo.

A suspect was arrested after being found in possession of an item belonging to the 38-year-old mother.

Moselakgomo is one of the 11 victims found in Ekurhuleni.

She was reported missing in September after she failed to return home from an afternoon jog.

Her bruised body was later discovered on 12 September near the R21 highway in Kempton Park.

Her death sparked massive outrage over the severe crisis of gender-based violence (GBV) and femicide in South Africa.

Moselakgomo is survived by her 8-year-old daughter Khumo.

SUSPECT TO APPEAR IN COURT

The police’s Brigadier Athlenda Mathe says the suspect is likely to face a charge of being in possession of stolen property.

She adds that no murder charge have been brought against the suspect yet.

Investigations continue.
