Border Management Authority spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi says the Authority’s new Vehicle Targeting System will significantly curb the smuggling of stolen vehicles across South Africa’s borders.

The system is being launched today at the Lebombo Port of Entry in Komatipoort.

Mogotsi says the launch comes after authorities recovered over 100 stolen or hijacked vehicles that were smuggled into Mozambique between April and June 2025.

She says the Vehicle Targeting System will replace random manual inspections with intelligence-led targeting.
