A suspected serial rapist linked by DNA to at least 16 attacks in KwaZulu-Natal will remain behind bars.
The 46-year-old suspect appeared in court yesterday facing a string of charges including rape, housebreaking, and attempted murder.
Police allege he stalked women at night, following them home from taverns before attacking and robbing them.
In some instances, the suspect allegedly broke into houses and raped his victims at knifepoint, especially vulnerable women who were staying alone.
The case has been postponed to 28 September.
The suspect is being held at Westville Correctional Centre, and cannot be named until an identity parade is conducted.
According to police, the suspect started his crimes in 2014, and between that year and 2025 he had allegedly raped fourteen (14) women in Cato Manor and a woman each in Plessislaer and Taylor’s Halt.
The victims could not identify the suspect because he reportedly covered his face during the attacks.
