At least 16 people have been killed following a collision involving a bus near Touwsriver in the Central Karoo.
The accident happened on the N1 in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Western Cape traffic chief Maxine Bezuidenhout confirmed the death toll and said emergency services worked through the night to attend to the injured and clear the scene.
