COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 Before entering the competition, please read these competition terms and conditions carefully.

1.2 By entering the competition and/or accepting any prize, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, as well as Heart FM’s General Competition Terms and Conditions.

1.3 The competition is brought to you by Gold Rush and Radio Heart 104.9 (Pty) Ltd, trading as Heart FM (“Heart FM”).


2. COMPETITION PERIOD

2.1 The Future Stars campaign will commence at 00:00 on Monday, 28 September 2026 and will close at 12:30pm on Thursday, 8 October 2026.

2.2 Entries received after the closing date and time above will not be eligible to participate in the competition, regardless of the reason for the late entry.

2.3 Heart FM is not liable for any technical failure that may result in an entry not being successfully submitted.


3. HOW TO ENTER

3.1 Listeners must submit a voice note explaining:

  • why they are nominating a deserving future sports star;
  • the nominee’s sport; and
  • why the nominee requires financial support.

3.2 Entries must be submitted in the manner and through the channel communicated by Heart FM during the competition period. Entries are to be sent via the Heart FM WhatsApp number (082 222 1049) as a Voice note and #Futurestars

3.3 No entries by post or any other form not specified by Heart FM will be accepted.

3.4 Entries containing errors or insufficient information may be deemed invalid.

3.5 It is the responsibility of the entrant to ensure that all information supplied to Heart FM is complete, accurate and up to date.


4. COMPETITION MECHANISM

4.1 During the competition period, Nigel and his team may select and play a selection of qualifying voice notes on air.

4.2 On Friday, 9 October 2026, selected nominees will be considered for financial support during Nigel’s show.

4.3 Gold Rush will provide a total of R100,000 in financial support for the Future Stars initiative.

4.4 The R100,000 may be divided between one or more eligible recipients at the discretion of Heart FM, depending on the competition outcome and applicable selection process.

4.5 The number of recipients and the amount awarded to each recipient will be determined by Heart FM in accordance with the competition mechanism.


5. FINALISTS AND POTENTIAL WINNERS

5.1 Being contacted, shortlisted, selected as a finalist or featured on air does not constitute confirmation that an entrant has won a prize.

5.2 A finalist is considered a potential winner until the applicable validation process has been successfully completed.

5.3 Where more than one finalist is selected, not every finalist will necessarily receive a prize.

5.4 The number of winners will depend on the competition mechanism and the allocation of the available prize value.

5.5 Heart FM reserves the right to select winners in accordance with the competition mechanism determined by the station.


6. WINNER SELECTION AND VALIDATION

6.1 Potential winners will be selected in accordance with the competition mechanism determined by Heart FM.

6.2 All potential winners are subject to a validation process determined by Heart FM before a winner is confirmed.

6.3 Heart FM reserves the right to verify information provided by an entrant, including, but not limited to:

  • the entrant’s identity;
  • eligibility to participate;
  • the accuracy and completeness of information provided;
  • supporting documentation;
  • banking details; and
  • any other information reasonably required by Heart FM to validate the entry and/or prize recipient.

6.4 An entrant will only be confirmed as a winner once the required validation process has been successfully completed.

6.5 Contacting, shortlisting or selecting an entrant as a finalist or potential winner does not constitute confirmation of a prize.

6.6 If a potential winner fails to satisfy the applicable eligibility requirements, provides inaccurate or incomplete information, fails to provide the required documentation, or otherwise fails the validation process, Heart FM reserves the right to disqualify that entrant and select an alternative winner, where applicable.

6.7 Heart FM reserves the right to conduct any validation it reasonably considers necessary to ensure that the competition rules and applicable eligibility requirements have been complied with.

6.8 The decision of the judge, presenter or organiser regarding the selection and validation of winners is final, subject to applicable law.


7. WINNER NOTIFICATION

7.1 Confirmed winners will be notified telephonically using the contact details supplied by the entrant.

7.2 Heart FM may require additional information or documentation from a potential winner before confirming the prize.

7.3 If Heart FM is unable to contact a potential winner, or if the potential winner fails to provide the required information within the timeframe stipulated by Heart FM, the potential winner may forfeit the prize and Heart FM may select an alternative winner, where applicable.

7.4 The announcement or identification of a finalist or potential winner does not constitute confirmation of a prize until the validation process has been successfully completed.


8. DOCUMENTATION AND PRIZE VALIDATION

8.1 Potential winners are required to provide Heart FM with the documentation reasonably required to complete the validation process.

8.2 This may include:

  • a copy of the potential winner’s bar-coded Identity Document;
  • banking details;
  • proof of information provided during entry; and
  • any other documentation reasonably required by Heart FM.

8.3 Documentation must be supplied within the timeframe communicated by Heart FM.

8.4 Failure to provide the required documentation within the stipulated timeframe may result in the potential winner not being confirmed as a winner and/or forfeiture of the prize.

8.5 Heart FM reserves the right to verify the authenticity and accuracy of documentation supplied.


9. ELIGIBILITY

9.1 Entrants must be 18 years or older at the time of entering the competition.

9.2 An entrant may not participate if they have won a competition conducted by Radio Heart 104.9 (Pty) Ltd in the preceding three months, unless otherwise stipulated by Heart FM.

9.3 The following persons are not eligible to participate:

a. directors, members, partners, employees, agents or consultants of Heart FM, its affiliates or any person supplying goods or services in connection with the competition;

b. spouses, life partners, parents, children, siblings, business partners or associates of persons referred to above; and

c. any other person excluded in terms of the Heart FM General Competition Terms and Conditions or applicable law.

9.4 Heart FM reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any entrant or potential winner.


10. DISQUALIFICATION

10.1 Heart FM reserves the right to disqualify any entrant suspected of fraud, cheating or manipulation of the competition, including without limitation the falsification of information or data.

10.2 An entrant may also be disqualified where:

  • the entrant does not meet the eligibility requirements;
  • information supplied by the entrant is false, inaccurate or incomplete;
  • the entrant fails the required validation process;
  • the entrant fails to provide required documentation;
  • the entrant breaches these competition terms and conditions or Heart FM’s General Competition Terms and Conditions; or
  • participation or the awarding of the prize would be unlawful or contrary to applicable promotional competition requirements.

10.3 If a confirmed or potential winner is disqualified, Heart FM reserves the right to select an alternative winner, where applicable.

10.4 Where a prize has already been awarded and the winner is subsequently found to have failed to comply with the applicable terms and conditions, Heart FM may require the prize to be forfeited, subject to applicable law.


11. PRIZE

11.1 The total prize/support allocation available through Gold Rush is R100,000.

11.2 Heart FM will determine how the R100,000 is allocated between the successful recipient(s), subject to the competition mechanism.

11.3 The R100,000 may be awarded to one recipient or divided between multiple recipients.

11.4 The prize is not transferable to another person and may not be exchanged for cash or any other item, unless otherwise determined by Heart FM or required by law.

11.5 The prize is subject to successful completion of the applicable validation process.


12. GENERAL COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

12.1 This competition is subject to these competition-specific terms and conditions and Heart FM’s General Competition Terms and Conditions.

12.2 Heart FM’s General Competition Terms and Conditions are incorporated into these terms and conditions and are available at:

12.3 The outcome of the competition is subject to the decision of the judge, presenter or organiser of the competition, whose decision is final, subject to applicable law.


13. LIABILITY

13.1 Participants/listeners enter and participate in the competition at their own risk.

13.2 Radio Heart 104.9 (Pty) Ltd bears no responsibility for any loss, damage or harm suffered as a result of participation in the competition, except to the extent that such liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

13.3 Participants and winners are required to comply with all applicable laws and regulations relating to their participation in the competition and acceptance of any prize.


14. PERSONAL INFORMATION AND PUBLICITY

14.1 By entering the competition, entrants consent to Heart FM processing their personal information for purposes reasonably required to administer the competition, including validating entries and contacting potential winners.

14.2 A winner may be required to consent to the publication of their name and certain details relating to their winning, as well as reasonable participation in Heart FM marketing activities, subject to applicable law.

14.3 Heart FM will handle participants’ personal information in accordance with applicable privacy legislation and its applicable privacy policies.


15. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

15.1 By entering the Future Stars competition, the entrant confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these competition terms and conditions and Heart FM’s General Competition Terms and Conditions.

15.2 By accepting a prize, the winner confirms their acceptance of these terms and conditions and any applicable requirements relating to the prize.
