It comes as Athlone has seen an increase in shootings, with the most recent being on Saturday night, where two people were killed.

In a separate shooting, another man was shot dead outside a primary school last week.

Both shootings are suspected to be gang-related.

Marchers went to the homes of alleged gangsters and drug dealers, demanding they stop their illicit activities.

Addressing the crowd, religious leader Moulana Mubeen Alexander detailed the severity of their situation….
