The case against suspended Lieutenant-General Shadrick Sibiya has been postponed till the 29th of September.
He appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court a short while ago.
Sibiya was arrested late last night at a strip club in Sandton in Gauteng.
He’s facing charges of trafficking, grooming a minor and raping an 18-year-old woman.
Earlier today, media houses were barred from recording the case of a senior police officer accused of sexual offences.
Despite lodging applications with the court official and the NPA, journalists were told by Fidelity’s head of security not to broadcast or record proceedings.
The National Prosecuting Authority’s Kaizer Kganyago says Sibiya will be held at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre, while the state opposes bail over concerns about witness interference, threats and possible escape.
