Suspended Gauteng Traffic Chief Inspector Samuel Mashaba has died.
The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
Mashaba had been placed on precautionary suspension after testifying before the Madlanga Commission in June 2026.
His testimony focused on his alleged role in the R300-million drug seizure operation in Aeroton, south of Johannesburg, in July 2021.
Authorities suspended him following the evidence he presented to the Commission, and that suspension remained in place at the time of his death.
Official confirmation on the circumstances surrounding his death is still pending.
