Gauteng police have launched a murder and robbery investigation following the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old woman in Thembisa early this morning.
The shooting reportedly took place in Temong, Mapungubwe Street, Thembisa, this morning at about 05:45.
The victim was reportedly walking to work when she was attacked. Her belongings were taken during the attack.
While the deceased has been identified, authorities are still waiting to formally notify her family.
Preliminary investigations have not established any link between this incident and the recent cases involving the bodies of women found in Ekurhuleni.

A 36-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
He faces a murder charge following his arrest by police in Mohlabaneng village, Limpopo.
The arrest is connected to the murder of a woman whose body was discovered at the Mooifontein Cemetery in Tembisa, Gauteng.
Her body was found on Saturday, 26th September.
Police confirmed that the investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding her murder is still ongoing.
Further details regarding the victim’s identity and how she died have not yet been released.
The discovery of the vicitm marks the 10th woman’s body found dead in the Ekurhuleni area in recent weeks.
